5 Gold Medals - Advancement of American Science Youth

A team of U.S. physics students, mostly of Asian descent, made an international splash by winning five out of eight gold medals at the 2025 International Physics Olympiad (IPhO) held in Paris, France, in July. The team was seen standing behind President Donald Trump at a public ceremony, showcasing the potential of young American scientists.

In general, the members of the U.S. science teams selected for international competitions are almost entirely of Asian descent. This demonstrates the active participation and high caliber of young Asians in education and science in American society.
